EXCHANGE - RAMALLAH

(Inside-Outside)

Under the framework of 'Jerusalem: The Capital of Arab Culture,' the Station Gallery is organizing a workshop for young Palestinian artists with the host Belgian artist Emilio Lopez Menchero, to mark the first anniversary of the founding of the gallery.

The concept of the workshop falls under the principle of exchange of experiences and between young participating Palestinians artists and guest artist, whose name is one of the most prominent in the European art world. This context will shape a production of modern art works by the participants.

The workshop deals with the subject social art in the community. It is the basis for production of modern art that is concerned with issues of community, and interaction with them to create controversy or to reconsider the issues raised within the context of creative art.

This workshop comes as a continuation of the first workshop, which was opening for the Station Gallery and its activities in Palestine in April 2008 year. It illustrates the vision of the Station Gallery towards the accumulation of experience and expertise that the Gallery presents to the Palestinian artist and the local public. It was decided to establish this kind of workshops annually to provide a greater number of young Palestinian artists to experience artistic production within the context of the collective work, with the guidance of a renowned international artist.

This workshop includes a public lecture by international Palestinian artist, Samir Salameh, in which he presents interventions on the development of Palestinian fine art and its connection with the Palestinian cause connections through modern history.

The workshop will take place between Saturday 11/4/2009 and Sunday 19/4/2009 every evening from five o'clock until ten o'clock. An exhibition of the works produced will conclude the workshop. The date will be announced in the future.
