Statement:
"Let the fear In"...
The purpose of the art being shown is to expose some of these fears I see in every day life, as well as those I have experienced. I choose vibrant colors mixed with symbolic illustrations to ease the visual digestion of confrontational material. I try to take something like fear and make it less fearful; there is some humor involved in these paintings by poking fun at how fear affects people...sometimes we are merely pawns to its over-whelming influence of control.
Some people develop life altering changes from encountering certain fears. Everyday we all deal with fear in many different ways and in various intensities...some of us give into fear while others confront it head on and overcome it. Fear can cause people to put their dreams on hold to pursue more lucrative means to accommodate the demands of life...generally falling back to income, and how one pursues to accumulate it. Fear causes people to react and act in many different ways. A fear that a potential suitor might decline ones directed interests and advances; might cause one to not even approach the potential mate. A fear to stand out from the crowd and be different, is what causes people to conform to what society deems normal. Fear of change can cause even the slightest deviation from a routine to be paralyzing...I guess what I have been trying to say is "Let the fear in, Learn from it, and never repeat past mistakes."
