WHAT: SURFACE LIBRARY Gallery will host "TEXTURES," an exhibition of artists as alchemists surveying aesthetic significance from unexpected and repurposed materials. In celebration, SURFACE LIBRARY will host an opening reception on Saturday, June 27th from 6-8pm. Guest curator Lynn Dunham of Art Rent & Lease has assembled a group of artists who find unexpected beauty in unusual materials with an emphasis on texture.
Participating artists include international and local artists whose work is currently on rotation with Art Rent and Lease – a cyber-gallery that rents, leases and sells fine art to business and residential clients, including eco-friendly Green Art. Lynn Dunham brings her unique art-acquiring concept to SURFACE LIBRARY in support of emerging and established artists and to promote sustainable, green and environmentally friendly art.

Guest curator Lynn Dunham has chosen works by David M. Mitchell 1, Vincent Romaniello, Gregory Coates, Matuschka, Gabriel J. Shuldiner, Jesse Pasca, James Kennedy, Lori Glavin and Tanya Bell - all of whom explore texture with unconventional materials. Site-specific work by Lori Glavin and Gregory Coates are relevant to the Art Rent and Lease "green" certification, whereby works are created with re-purposed materials.

About Us: SURFACE LIBRARY is an atelier and gallery, co-founded by Irish abstract painter, James Kennedy and potter, Bob Bachler, to create and present their art and design work. The gallery is also proud to present exhibits featuring new artists in multi media.

SURFACE LIBRARY Gallery & Atelier is located at 845 Springs Fireplace Road, East Hampton (opposite the Pollock-Krasner House in the Springs District). Gallery hours are Thursday to Sunday from 1pm to 7pm, and by appointment: 631.291.9061.

CLAUDIO PERNA - CARACAS

Claudio Perna es figura clave del conceptualismo en Venezuela. Artista-geógrafo, Perna produjo un cuerpo de trabajo diverso y multidisciplinario que proponía descifrar la realidad tomando al hombre, el entorno y al planeta como temas centrales de sus investigaciones y reflexiones. Su obra se muestra como un registro crítico y una documentación acuciosa del entorno social, artístico y geográfico venezolano, que indaga en temas como la identidad, la historia, la noción de autoria, la comunicación, el conocimiento.

Siguiendo el interés de Perna en fusionar geografía y arte, Faría Fábregas Galería reúne un grupo de obra que toma al territorio venezolano como objeto de estudio y el interés de Perna en entenderlo a través de la geografía. Venezuela como país, lugar e identidad, tratado como territorio geográfico y cultural.

La exposición está conformada por películas súper ocho de los años 70, un grupo de “Fotografías satelitales” inéditas que se exhiben por vez primera y mapas.

Gabriela Rangel, Directora de Artes Visuales del Americas Society, Nueva York, ha escrito un breve texto que será publicado en ocasión de la muestra.

Gabriela Rangel, directeur de la Visual Arts Americas Society, New York, a écrit un court texte qui sera publié à l'occasion de l'exposition.

Valérie Etter, ATER et doctorante en Arts Visuels à l'Université de Strasbourg, propose d'aborder une thématique largement illustrée par le Bestiaire de Franck Goldbronn et les Eaux-fortes d'Assan Smati présentés à Stimultania, en étudiant l'hybride et ses multiples facettes.
Une petite visite de l'exposition accompagnera le propos et permettra de construire des liens et d'établir des parallèles entre le discours et l'image.

BOB DOB - BALTIMORE

On Friday, June 26, the beloved Bob Dob will satisfy great anticipations by releasing a new line of prints through TAG Galleries including 10 of his all-time most adored works. The show will co-feature works by a new TAG Galleries partner artist, Hugo Mulder, who is a mixed media artist out of Amsterdam. FABIO WEIK - MILAN

ATELIER 24 ORE


La mostra di Fabio Weik, allestita per un esclusivo evento privato, viene prorogata e aperta al pubblico. Per l’occasione Setspace, viene trasformato per un giorno in un laboratorio artistico, che ospiterà, venerdì 26 giugno, un live painting aperto al pubblico. Lo spazio, la cui natura ambivalente di location e centro nevralgico dell’ideazione è emersa in particolar modo nel corso dello sviluppo di questo evento, reciterà la parte di un atelier improvvisato, per un’esperienza immersa nel momento di creazione artistica. L’aggressiva gestualità dell’arte del graffito si incontra, si scontra e si integra con quella del dripping, steso rigorosamente a spray. Il mezzo espressivo diventa uno strumento polifunzionale, rispecchia le esigenze dell’artista, si lascia manipolare e trasformare nel tratto, che spruzza, schizza e ora cola a servizio di una pittura d’azione. Fanno da sfondo alla performance alcune opere dell’artista che, come stop frame su tela, segnano le tappe del concentrato e frenetico percorso creativo di Weik compiuto fino ad oggi. Dunque diciassette opere più una, inedita, la cui esistenza, fino ad allora, è accertata soltanto nella mente dell’artista. Quest’ultima creazione e la storia della sua nascita, verranno presentate e festeggiate con un aperitivo, sabato 27 giugno presso quell’atelier dalle 24 ore di vita.

L'exposition de Fabio Weik, organisé pour un événement privé exclusif, a été étendu et ouvert au public. Pour l'occasion Setspace, se transforme pour un jour dans un laboratoire artistique qui abritera, Vendredi Juin 26, un live de peinture ouvert au public. L'espace, dont le caractère ambivalent et l'emplacement du centre névralgique de la politique en particulier, apparus au cours de l'élaboration de cet événement, répétez la part d'un studio improvisé, pour une expérience de plongée dans le moment de la création artistique. L'agressivité des gestes de graffiti art se rencontrent, et d'affrontements avec celle de la goutte à goutte, rigoureusement préparé pulvérisation. Le médium devient un outil à usages multiples, reflète les besoins de l'artiste, peut être manipulé et transformé en stretch, qui pulvérisations, les jets de cola, et maintenant au service d'une action painting. Formulaire de la toile de fond de certains artiste de performance qui, comme l'arrêt sur image de la toile, marquant les étapes de la concentration et frénétique de création Weik voie de fait à ce jour. Ainsi, plus une dix-sept, non publiée, dont l'existence, jusque-là, a été établi que dans l'esprit de l'artiste.
