Une exposition photographique consacrée au cancer du sein.

Kérozène vous convie au vernissage de l'exposition solo de Marcelo Troche, 1 / 9, une importante série de portraits qui a pour sujet le cancer du sein dont les profits seront versés à la fondation du cancer du sein.

Une femme sur neuf sera un jour atteinte du cancer du sein. Les chiffres sont frappants et la maladie l’est tout autant. C’est avec la volonté de mettre en lumière cette situation préoccupante que l’artiste photographe vous présente le fruit de son travail.

PETER HRISTOFF - ISTANBUL

In the Garden

C.A.M Gallery will present “Bahçede” the recent works of Peter Hristoff, opening September 29th, and running through November 5th 2009. In this body of work (paintings, works on paper and rugs), the artist explores the theme of the expulsion from paradise and all of the implications of that particular narrative. Loosely based on Masaccio’s classic fresco in Florence’s Brancacci Chapel, the artist works with models who theatrically recreate the story of Adam and Eve. Drawings and photographs are used as reference to paint and screen print images that are carefully layered with intense colors to create iconic depictions of the repercussions of temptation. The artist uses the familiar tale to express not only his interest in references art historical and biblical but to also comment on the pathos of human experience as well as its beauty. Themes of duality are of recurrent examination – oriental and occidental, erotic and ascetic, vice and virtue being some of the issues that Hristoff has addressed. Identity, sexuality, the psychology of desire and of guilt, current events, as well as the artist’s interpretation of "contemporary orientalism" and Ottoman bahnames run through the work being exhibited. Hristoff will be simultaneously showing 12 pieces from an on-going series entitled "Everything and Nothing" at the Pera Museum in "Octet: Selected Works from the School of Visual Arts, New York."

ARTS MÉDIATIQUES du 23ième FICFA - MONCTON

Dans le cadre de la 23e édition du Festival international du cinéma francophone en Acadie (FICFA), le public est invité aux expositions du volet Arts médiatiques, en montre à partir du 25 septembre à la Galerie Sans Nom, la Galerie 12, la Salle Sans Sous au Centre culturel Aberdeen, au Café Clémentine et au 700 rue Main. Le vernissage des expositions aura lieu le 25 septembre à 20h débutant au Centre culturel Aberdeen et se poursuivant au 700 rue Main.

JOURNÉES DE LA CULTURE à la SAT - MONTRÉAL

Cette année, la Société des arts technologiques vous propose une programmation des plus variée pour souligner la 13ième édition des Journées de la culture 2009.

Les 25, 26 et 27 septembre prochain seront présentés trois projets artistiques issus du programme SAT[résidences] de l'été 2009 :

- "Dispergere Maiz", dispositif de projections immersives et interactives de l'artiste montréalais Manuel Chantre.

- Projet d’art génératif "Capture", un groupe rock virtuel initié par l’artiste parisien Gregory Chatonsky et son équipe.

- Le "laboratoire de bio-art" par l'artiste-chercheur new-yorkais Brandon Ballengée et son équipe.

En plus de ces présentations, quatre conférences seront offertes en soirée par les artistes résidents et de l'artiste autrichien Konrad Becker, directeur du « Institute for New Culture Technologies de Vienne ». Cette dernière conférence se voudra en lien avec le lancement montréalais de son tout nouveau livre «Strategic Reality Dictionary Deep Infopolitics and Cultural Intelligence»


La SAT orchestrera aussi la soirée d'ouverture de la programmation «Je m’affiche pour la culture!», le vendredi 25 septembre, à 20h, avec une nocturne sur la Place du Quartier des spectacles réunissant le duo de platinistes Le Rossignol et Lafrance ainsi que les DJs et VJs du collectif MixSessions.

Theo Pelmus and his Father, the renowned Romanian painter Stefan Pelmus, will present a collaborative body of work focusing on the idea of “supplice”. After not having seen his father for four years the performer Theo Pelmus is re-evaluating the father/son relationship through this collaborative process. Theo’s self-portraits and male nudes are altered by the symbols of Stefan’s painting. The painted symbols of “fleurs du mal” ostracize the body of the son. Cronos, who eats his sons, is a starting point of this collaboration and the symbol of sacrifice which shifts from the son’s to the father’s perspective. The Orthodoxy of the East meets the Atheism of the West.
