COUVERCLES D'UN MONDE SUBMERGÉ - ACRI
Au cœur du travail du duo d'artistes Rama (Federica Marini et Carmelo Rago), et l'exposition qui leur est dédié, est le couvercle de trou d'homme, défini comme élément de design urbain qui peuvent produire des traces de son origine, devenant ainsi la marque la zone géographique d'appartenance et une période historique particulière. Grâce à la technique d'impression d'une cuillère gravures sur bois, les artistes sont proposés comme les archéologues peuvent détecter les empreintes, les signes et les traces de l'histoire, l'humanité a laissé sur les fenêtres.

It is with great pleasure that we announce Joshua Liner Gallery will be exhibiting at SCOPE Miami 2009. We will be exhibiting the works of several gallery artists including Cleon Peterson, Dave Kinsey, David Kassan, Evan Hecox, James Roper, Kris Kuksi, Shawn Barber, Tiffany Bozic, Tomokazu Matsuyama, Tony Curanaj and Travis Louie. The dates for the fair are Wednesday December 2nd through Sunday December 6th. The first view is Wednesday December 2nd and is a private viewing for VIP invitees only. We would like you to join us for the first view on Wednesday December 2nd from 11am - 6pm. If you would like to receive a complimentary VIP pass for the event please reply to this email with your name, email and mailing address. In addition to the private first view a VIP pass will entitle you to complimentary unlimited admission for two to the fair, complimentary fair catalogue as well as access to the VIP lounge and VIP special events programs.

TALK: THE BIENNAL PARADOX - COLUMBIA
Over the last 20 years, globalism has reshaped the international art world, and one of the most important contributing factors has been the rise of the International biennial. Once confined to a few key locations (among them Venice and Kassel, Germany) such shows have emerged in recent years in art centers as diverse as Singapore, Beijing, Johannesburg, Havana, Dubai, Istanbul and Gwangju, Korea. They have become a means for artists outside the mainstream to become noticed and for curators, critics, collectors and dealers to expose themselves to a wide range of international art. But there is another side to biennials as well. They serve their host countries in a variety of ways -- promoting cultural tourism, bringing in international revenue, promoting various non-art agendas and at times countering the bad publicity generated by less felicitous social, economic and political problems.This talk will look at the biennial phenomenon and discuss the reasons for their proliferation, the nature of their influence on local and global art worlds, the differences between specific biennials, and their relative value in the ever more complex international art world.

Please join us for an afternoon tour with Vancouver artist Ian Wallace.
Wallace is a formative influence and active part of an internationally recognized artistic milieu. He has developed a pictorial idiom, marked by its theoretical rigour, uniting monochrome painting and documentary photography. One of his recent works is included in the exhibition.
