Marty Walker Gallery is pleased to present Automatic, a new exhibition of video and drawings by Brooklyn artist William Lamson. This marks the artist’s second solo exhibition at the gallery. While traveling in South America last spring, Lamson began “Automatic,” a video and drawing project in which he harnessed the natural forces of wind and water to power three low-tech drawing machines made from found objects such as plastic bottles, string and wood. A video documents the uncanny movement of each apparatus at work and its relationship to the landscape around it. The results of his efforts (or lack of) are a series of abstract drawings, each distinct depending on the type of marker, apparatus and existing weather conditions.
