BRIAN PAULSEN - GRAND FORKS

Please join us for a celebration and book signing on Wednesday, June 10, 7 pm, at the North Dakota Museum of Art.

The Museum has just published a book about the watercolors and prints of recently retired University of North Dakota Art Professor Brian Paulsen. This is a limited edition, 96-page hardcover book detailing the life work of Paulsen. The book was edited by Museum Director Laurel Reuter who also wrote the lead essay and edited a long interview with Paulsen.

Michael Berman, photographer in the current exhibition The History of the Future, has been photographing the harsh and often fatal landscapes of the US-Mexico border regions for fifteen years. Immediately following the book signing Berman will speak about his work and how immigration will shape and has shaped the future. Berman lives and works in New Mexico.

ARTSEE - GRAND FORKS

See the art. See the artists. Greater Grand Forks Young Professionals announces ArtSee 2009, Thursday, April 30 from 5-8pm at the North Dakota Museum of Art.

ArtSee is a unique and interactive showcase of some of the most notable artists from around the region. It is a great event for art enthusiasts and newcomers alike. Regional artists in attendance to show work and interact with attendees will include Brett Lysne (printmaking, painting), Kim Fink (printmaking), Bill Harbort (painting), Adam Kemp (painting, sculpting), Jessica Mongeon (painting), Michael Dunn (painting), Jason Lindell (glass art), Sheila Dalgliesh (painting), and Memo Guardia (sculpting); and musical entertainment from Jarrod Schell and Matt Strand.

The event is free and open to the public with complimentary hors d’oeuvres and beverages courtesy of the North Dakota Museum of Art, Happy Harry’s Bottle Shops, and Rite Spot Liquor. Additional event sponsorship is courtesy of the City of Grand Forks.

In 2007 and 2008, more than 200 art enthusiasts and newcomers alike mingled with artists, networked with fellow young professionals and the Greater Grand Forks community. GGFYP looks forward to hosting even more guests in 2009.

Artists and War II will be closing April 26, so if you haven't had a chance to see it yet, hurry! The show consists of work by Juan Manuel Echavarria, Johanna Calle and Fernando Grisalez Blanco of Colombia, plus Guillermo Guardia of Lima, Peru, now living in Grand Forks.

Snow Country Prison: Interned in North Dakota is also coming down on the 26th. Snow Country Prison tells the story of 3, 850 men interned at Ft. Lincoln, just south of Bismarck, ND.
