DRASCO BOGDANOVIC - OTTAWA

La Petite Mort Gallery presents...

ONE NIGHT STAND
with DRASKO BOGDANOVIC
NEW PHOTOGRAPHS
One Night Only Exhibit

"His cutting edge work captures the heartbeat of contemporary photography."
- Try State Magazine

I break down examples of collectible and desirable photography into two subgroups. First there is the sort that captures a moment, a sideways glance or feeling without a trace of staginess and sometimes without even needing to be representational. The second is the kind of shot that records a formally blocked tableau and usually required for fashion and magazine work. What amazes me about Drasko is his competence at both, as well as his use and mastery of natural lighting throughout.
Antonio Arch

With raunchy style guaranteed to arouse Serbian-Canadian artist Drasko Bogdanovic is presenting, in a one night only event, a collection of provocative homo-erotic photographs. Depicting masculinity as a blend of portraits and nudes, his sexually charged and intimate photos play with the viewer and catch him in a game between a voyeur and an exhibitionist.

"Drasko loves men. Men love Drasko and trust him. He likes them naked. They like him to take charge. There is a bond. There is tension. The resulting photographs may cause some to break in a sweat."
- INCHES Magazine, 2009

Statement:
Drasko Bogdanovic (born 1977 in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Yugoslavia) is a Bosnian-Canadian artist, portraitist and photographer of homoeroticism. He emigrated to Canada in 1996 where he took up digital photography. Bogdanovic was a classically trained musician and self taught painter before taking up photography. An early fascination with Hollywood magazines and black & white photography influenced Bogdanovic to juxtapose classical posture with natural light in his male nude photography. Today his landscape and architecture photography capture cities’ geometry, immutable personalities and intrinsic emotions; his photography has appeared in domestic newspapers and magazines and has been featured in local and national advertising campaigns.

HOLY FUCK SIX - OTTAWA

La Petite Mort Gallery’s owner & director
Guy Berube will be hosting for its SIXTH consecutive year the infamous party of all parties...

HOLY FUCK SIX

PARTY: Saturday August 29, 2008 / 8 - midnite
Celebrating Gay Pride / August 24-30, 2009
& ALZHEIMERS BENEFIT

World Premier by Installation Artist RICKY ALVAREZ !!
Featuring Five Original Interior & Exterior Interventions

An evening of art, kink, music, video, smut, art, performance, & a few surprises.

This year’s gig promises to once again shock, stimulate, titilate, unnerve, and as usual, attract the cops.

The big bash is at La Petite Mort Gallery, on Saturday August 29, from 8pm-midnite, in collaboration with philanthropist Bill Staubi.

This once-a-year event serves a purpose to satisfy the high demand Ottawa wants for events that not only shock and amuse, but also in helping out a needy cause. Normally, the evening’s proceeds are handed over to a major research institution, in hopes of helping the cause, but it's second year, we have chosen to find a smaller, specific group that we could help with immediate results. We chose Villa Marguerite at the Centre Bruyere in Ottawa, a care centre for those affected with Alzheimer’s & Dementia. It’s also where my mother resides, and where I believe the unique staff are people like no other, people who’s hearts far surpass what most of us can comprehend.

Let’s celebrate Pride with a BANG. My goal is to blow your mind, and perhaps get you laid.

$15 at the door or in advance at La Petite Mort Gallery / 18+

All proceeds from the event will benefit the lives of people affected with Alzheimers’ & Dementia
